Yoruba Group Kicks As Police Arrest Sunday Igboho's Supporter For Killing PoS Operator In Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Kehinde Jelili for allegedly robbing and killing a Piont-of-Sale terminal agent, Abiodun Odebunmi, and a Uber driver, Idowu.

According to the police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was trailed for several months before he was finally arrested by the police on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

The police said that Jelili is one of the supporters of Chief Sunday Igboho, who attended the embattled Yoruba activist's court trial in the Republic of Benin a few days ago. He was arrested immediately after he returned from Benin.

The police said Jelili was arrested with three other suspected serial killers, identified as Abiodun Akinola, Johnson Fakeye, and Jamiu Akinola. They had allegedly set ablaze Abiodun Odebunmi’s remains after stealing N4m from him.

Police also recovered three vehicles from the suspects. The police said the owners of the vehicles have been murdered by the suspects.

In reaction to the development, a Yoruba group, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, accused the police of trying to paint the Yoruba Nation struggle black by linking the suspect to Chief Sunday Igboho.

In a statement released by the group's Director of Media, Maxwell Adeleye, the group said it was impossible for the suspect to attend Igboho's court trial in Benin because only lawyers and Igboho's wife were allowed in the court room.

The group also asked the police to face Abba Kyari's case, which is a bad image for the country, and stop painting the Yoruba Nation struggle black.
