Seven people were killed in Dasin Bwate village in Adamawa's Fufore Local Government Area (LGA) on allegations of witchcraft, according to police.
The state's police spokesman, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, verified the news to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Yola.
The event occurred on Tuesday, according to Nguroje, who also stated that an investigating team had been dispatched to the community.
“Witchcraft allegations led to the deaths of seven persons in Dasin Bwate village in Fufore LGA.
“A police investigative team has been dispatched to the village," Nguroje said.
However, he claimed that when the team arrived in the village on Wednesday morning, all of the residents had left, including the village chief.
The seven unidentified bodies were discovered in one of the village's homes, according to Nguroje.
So far, no arrests have been made, according to him.
“We are appealing to nearby villages to provide useful information on the whereabouts of Dasin Bwate residents to the police,” Nguroje begged.
