Beware of people sourcing funds for Odumakin's burial, widow warns as family releases burial details

The burial arrangement of late Yinka Odumakin has been released by his immediate family members. According to a statement released by late Odumakin's family, there are some fraudulent people who are busy begging for funds for the burial of Yinka Odumakin. The family of Yinka Odumakin who was a former spokesman for the oan-yoruba group, Afenifere, denied ever asking the general public for funds for his burial arrangement.

The Odumakins urged the general public to beware of false burial arrangements that are being circulated by some fraudulent individuals who are also seeking for funds from unsuspecting Nigerians. The family of the deceased person thought that it was wide to publish the real burial arrangements of the great icon. According to the family of the deceased, the burial rites kicks off on Thursday April 22, 2021, at the Police College, Ikeja at 11:00 am. The burial rites will commence with lying-in-state. Tributes and service of songs will then follow. All events on the said date will end by 4:00 pm.

On Friday April 23, 2021, his body will depart Lagos and head to his home town in Ife North Local Government Area. Events will start with a candlelight procession at the Origbo Anglican Grammer School. On April 24, 2021, there will be lying in state at Origbo Anglican Grammer School, 8:00 am. The funeral service will commence at 10:00 am and other events will follow after the service.

The family urged the general public to only follow the burial rites which has been approved by the family. They also stressed that they did not ask any organizations or persons to source for funds on their behalf. The family also warned anyone or group of people who has been spreading rumors concerning the deceased in an attempt to tarnish the image of the family to stop doing so.
