Zamfara Abduction: Another Tour From Sheihk Gumi??
Insecurity in the Northern part of Nigeria has become very disturbing as it is almost becoming a daily business activity to hear of different stories linked to insecurity in such areas.
It was barely up to a month the Islamic scholar had toured the forests of Shinkafi and Gummmi as to spread the message of Islam and peace to the herdsmen, with claims to get rid of the kidnapping and banditry.
Here, he had met with over 150 armed fulanis, who expressed pains, saying it would be difficult for them to hand over their weapons.
Visiting the Makkia forest again, he had met with no fewer than 600 bandits who wielded automatic rifles.
He had supported the herders with claims that they took up arms due to the injustice melted on them, that included killing of them and their cattles, extortion and burning of their homes by security operatives.
Despite the eyebrows raised on his trips, he also made another to Niger State, as some heavily arms men, had stormed a Government science college on February 17, 2021 and abducted some students and staff of the school, as the bandits walked the abducted through the forest, however, not long after, the scholar travelled down to Niger State to meet with the bandits, upon the meeting, he begged them to give peace a chance.
Despite all pleas, the school children and staff, still remained with the bandits in their den, while this sad experience, a report has it that this Friday morning, February 26, some gunmen had stormed Zamfara state, and abducted students of the Government Girls secondary school, Jangaba, Talata Madara local government area of the state.
While contacted, the spokesperson of the state police command, Muhammed Shehu, stated that he can't say anything at the time of filling the incident.
Is Sheikh Gumi going to take another tour to Zamfara forest with hopes to preach, negotiate, and rescue the abducted students?
