Plane Crash

Babajide Otitoju Speaks On Reports That 2 People Jumped Out Of Attahiru's Plane Before It Crashed

The circumstances surrounding the plane crash that killed Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff, Lt Ibrahim Attahiru, and others have sparked outrage among Nigerians.

It will be noted that the country was plunged into grief last weekend after the deaths of Lt Ibrahim Attahiru, his aides, and others in Kaduna.

The plane disaster was blamed to bad meteorological conditions. However, some people believe there is more to it than just lousy weather.

Babajide Otitoju Kolade, a well-known Nigerian broadcaster and public affairs specialist, has debunked reports that two pilots ejected from the jet before it crashed.

In Monday's edition of Journalists Hang Out, Babajide stated that there was no provision for individuals to be removed from the ill-fated plane. According to him, the plane that crashed in Kaduna was a passenger plane, not a military jet. Only fighter airplanes, he claims, are equipped with an ejection mechanism.

"Believing that two people were ejected from the plane before it crashed is ridiculous." Said Babajide. "It makes no logic to imply that several persons were ejected from the plane carrying the Chief of Army Staff."

The ace presenter went on to say that the footage of two pilots flying outside that was going viral was not a recent clip. The footage, he claims, was of the 2018 Nigerian Air Force practicing for the October 1st celebration before it crashed.

The entire program is available to view online.
