
According to an eyewitness, Godfrey Idede, three Persons were killed by a fuel tanker which exploded at the Amoke village of Apa Local Government Area in Benue State. The incident occurred on Monday morning when the vehicle conveying petroleum product went up in flames in the area.
He revealed that, the incident led to pandemonium in the area as a lot of economic activities came to an abrupt end. Some of the people freaked out and closed their shops in the area.
It was later discovered by the Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commision (FRSC) in Benue State, Yakubu Mohammed, that the accident happened as a result of brakes failure. He added that, apart from the three Persons who died, no other person sustained injury and it shouldn't be a cause of alarm. He urged shop owners to open their stores while the scene of the accident was taken care of.
The fire was put out after some hours, because, there was no fire service station close to the scene of the incident.
