
In the Bye-election held on Saturday at Omuo Ekiti, midway in to the election to fill the vacancy of Ekiti East constituency 1 of the Ekiti house of Assembly.
Three people including a policewoman shot dead by suspected hoodlums who disrupted the election process while six other were injured.
Senator Biodun Olujimi (Ekiti South) had just voted when the violence erupted, but she narrowly escaped been shot.
According to the Nation news, Among the injured persons were an official of Federal road safety corp (FRSC) a corp member and two policemen.
The election process was immediately suspended by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while the injured persons were receiving treatment.
It was gathered that apart from the shooting incident, there were also reports of ballot box snatching in some other polling units.
