The federal government is proposing a possible imposition of a state of emergency in Anambra state. Although no formal declaration has been made yet, there are people who think this is a great move and an effective tactical solution to tackle the unending menace of unknown gunmen in the state. While others such as Mr Femi Falana is of the opinion that such a move is dead on arrival. The federal government seems convinced that the imposition of an emergency rule will give the opportunity to handle the security situation in the region.
The state of emergency gives the federal government direct authority to handle the affairs of the state. This includes the security challenges being faced in the state as a result of constant attacks by unknown gunmen. Security formations, outposts, government facilities are usually the target for attack. This increasing rate of security threat is causing significant damage to the economic growth and development of the state. Trades and local businesses are affected as a result of the Sit-At-Home order imposed by the proscribed organisation.
Efforts are being made by the government to restore normalcy in the affected areas. The leadership of the Nigerian Army has recently announced a nationwide military operation targeted at neutralising criminal elements terrorising the six geopolitical zones of the country. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk has charged officers to display the highest level of professionalism in the course of the operation.

The operation of the squad can be regarded as successful because notorious leaders of the proscribed Eastern Security Network were captured. Commanders such as Onye Army etc are undergoing rigorous investigation.
