Police To Prosecute Man Who Attempted To Commit Suicide At Third Mainland Bridge

The Lagos State Police Command has said it will prosecute a man by name Akinlolu Ajayi who was stopped from committing suicide at the Third Mainland Bridge.

According to a publication by Punch News on it's Instagram page, the 54 years old man is said to be a staff of Lagos State Development and Property Corporation.

It was reported that on the 15th of September, 2021, Akinlolu was seen at the Third Mainland Bridge attempting to jump into the Lagoon at the University of Lagos Waterfront.

He was however stopped by Police Officers from the Bariga Police Station who were on routine Patrol around the area. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Station.

The Lagos State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adekunle Ajisebutu on Saturday 18th September, 2021, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect will be charged to Court when investigation is completed.

Attempting to commit Suicide is punishable by law in Nigeria.
