Catholic Priest killed, one other kidnapped, as gunmen attack a community in Kastina state.

Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Yashim Bello, has been kidnaped by suspected bandits who attacked St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Malunfashi, Kastina State. 

It was disclosed that the gunmen invaded the Catholic Parish on Thursday, May 20, around 11pm. They invaded the church premises and started shooting sporadically, leaving some people injured. The deceased priest however resisted to be abducted but he was overpowered by the gunmen. They took him and one other elderly priest, Rev. Fr. Joe Keke, to unknown location.

The dead body of the late priest was later found on Friday morning, in a farmland behind the Catechetical Training School, Malunfashi, Kastina state.

According to the communications Director, Diocese of Sokoto, Rev. Fr. Chris Omotosho, who confirmed the incident, the abducted Priest, Rev. Fr. Joe Keke, is the former Parish Priest, now retired. He said Joe Keke is in his early 70s while the deceased priest, Rev. Fr. Alphonsus, is a newly ordained priest, in his early 30s.
