It's no longer news that many prisoners escaped from Owerri prison after unknown gunmen attacked and destroyed Owerri Custodian Center a few weeks ago. As the search for these prisoners continues, The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) has released a new list containing names and photographs of wanted prisoners who escaped from Owerri prison on the 5th of April, 2021. The prison break that happened in Owerri a few weeks ago shocked many Nigerians because many people never believed that such a thing will ever happen in Nigeria. After the attack, it was reported that many prisoners escaped from Owerri Custodian Center. According to reports, some prisoners have returned to their various cells, while many are still on the run. Because of this, The Nigeria Correctional Center has vowed to publish names and pictures of all Owerri prison escapees who refused to return to the prison after unknown gunmen attacked the Prison facilities on the 5th of April, 2021.
So far, The Nigeria Correctional Center has released 6 different lists. The first list was released on the 9th of April, 2021, while the latest list was released on Twitter some hours ago.
