According to the video, the student could be seen kneeling as some boys numbering about 4 hit her repeatedly with a cane. However, reports made available on Facebook by Fresh Insight TV reveal that it was the Mualim (Teacher) of Madrasah Musbaudeen, an Arabic school for Muslims at Ganmo area of Kwara State that ordered the boys to beat the female student for attending a party.
I understand that there is a need to discipline a child for going against certain norms and doctrines, but this is not the right way to go about it. To me, this is child abuse and every individual involved should be arrested and charged for brutalizing the female student.
That being said, all parties involved, including the teacher, should be compelled to apologize to the student. Although it won't end the pain of the traumatic experience, it will go a long way to prove a point that there are limits to enforcing discipline.
