According to reports, the gunmen entered the town around 1pm on Tuesday and abducted the mother of a wealthy, Alhaji Yusuf Jibrin. A local resident told a radio station that the attackers first opened fire on public, which lead to injured three people. Freddom Radio Reported this.
He also added that the gunmen also abducted an elder, Alhaji Yusuf Jibrin, the father of the rich man and his wife, Hajiya Asabe Jibril. On the way, they released his father after injuring him. The resident added that his cousin, Abba Yusuf Gwaddu, died at the Aminu Kano Hospital after the evening prayers on Wednesday. The rest of the victims and their survivors continue to be cared for by doctors. He said they did see any security personel to the scene until after a long period of time.
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. He said two gunmen had taken them hostage and their Police officers had already managed to rescue one of them and were conducting an investigation to rescue the abducted woman. This attack comes less than a week after the new Kano police commissioner took office.
