Suspected kidnapper, Onwuamadike Chukwudueme popularly known as Evans has lost a suit he established against the Nigerian Police. An appeal filed by him which challenged the seizure of his 25 trucks by the police was dismissed by the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division for lacking in merit.

Evans accused the Inspector-General of police and four others of unlawfully confiscating his 25 trucks and converting them to be theirs.
Evans's counsel, Olukoya Ogungbeje said that the trucks were seized without any court order since June 2017. Olukoya asked the judge to award N200Million as exemplary and general damage against the police for the violation of his client's rights under Sections 36, 43, and 44 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
The police counsel, Emmanuel Eze, implored the court to terminate the suit as the vehicles were proceeds of exhibits and crime. 3 justices of the court terminated Evans’ appeal for lacking in merit on Thursday, 12 August 2021.
