Unknown Gunmen have attacked and killed a yet to be estimated number of Police Officers in Anambra State and set their Operational vehicles ablaze.
It is reported that many other Policemen were seriously injured during the attack at a Security Post mounted by the Operatives at Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state on Thursday evening.
The identities of the attackers has not yet been ascertained, as no group has claimed responsibility yet.
The incident is the latest in recent times about the growing trend of attacks on Police Stations and Security Personnels in the South Eastern part of the country.
The Governors of the Region had recently established a Security Outfit to help in curbing the rising insecurity in the Region.
The attack is suspected to be carried out by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) through its Armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The situation is worrisome especially as the Gubernatorial election is coming up in few weeks time.
