The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has said that most of the killings and destructions in the state were politically motivated. He said that it is sad, but most of those incriminated have willingly confessed.
After Most Rev. Samuel Uche was received, Governor Hope Uzodinma made an appeal regarding the security of the state, and that of the whole country, Nigeria.
He said that he has continued to call on the church to help improve the security of the country by preaching, praying and partnering with the government.
Parts of the security challenges the church should look into according to Hope Uzodinma are, banditry, Kidnapping, violence, armed robbery, destruction of lives and properties and killing of security personnel, and burning of their facilities. He added that government cannot function alone.
The governor believe that the only way government can function is by partnering with the people and establishments, especially the church from whose activities come morality and good conduct.
He also said that Imo State wants peace because the state is known for peace. He also talked about the importance of security in Nigeria as a country.
Hope Uzodinma said that they are determined to play decent politics. He said that the activities of the past weeks are regrettable as they are products of bad and indecent politics anchored on acrimony and violence.
He said that some of the perpetrators of the violence have willingly confessed. He added that as soon as investigations are completed, they will be made available to the public and they will be made to face the law.
He ended by thanking Most Rev. Samuel Uche for coming to sympathize with the state on the violence carried on her.
