NPF denies receiving reports from Special Investigation Panel from Kyari's investigation

The Nigerian Politice Force has advised the public to discountenance reports by various news media that the Special Investigation Panel probing the FBI allegations against Abba Kyari has submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba.

In a statement posted to the NPF's official Facebook handle by CP Frank Mba, the Force's public relations officer, the NPF insists that the investigations are still ongoing and the outcome will be made available to the public upon conclusion. https://www.facebook.com/127243240651077/posts/6074728819235793/?app=fbl

Recall that various national media reported today that the panel has concluded its report which they claimed was submitted to the IG today. A similar story also claimed that the SIP had earlier submitted a report to the IG and that it was rejected leading to the purported submission of a second report. The Police refutes all these unfounded stories.

Abba Kyari who is a celebrated police officer has been indicted by the US court for allegedly taking bribe from Hushpuppi to jail Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, Huspuppi's accomplice in a $1.1 million dollars scam. The FBI subsequently asked for Abba Kyari to be extradited to the USA to face trial but the IG of police upon receipt of the FBI's allegations, set up a special investigation panel as required by law.

However, Abba Kyari has been temporarily suspended pending the outcome of the investigation which is now ongoing. He had posted a denial of the charges of the FBI on his Facebook handle but later edited that post several times before deleting it after a lot of people criticised the posts.

Hushpuppi whose real name is Abbas Ramon has pleaded guilty to charges of money laundering and is expected to be sentenced by October this year.
