IPOB, ESN Attacked Our Station in Isiala Mbano – Police

The Imo State Police Command has said members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and operatives of its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) carried out the attack on the Isiala Mbano Police Station on Thursday evening.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Hussaini while addressing newsmen on Friday said the hoodlums stormed the station in about five vehicles and three motorcycles, threw petrol bombs on the roof of the building and started shooting indiscriminately. They were however repelled by gallant officers, forcing them to zoom off in their vehicles.

He disclosed that no life was lost in the attack. One officer however sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a medical facility for attention.

According to him, “The command’s tactical teams have been dispatched to the area in pursuit of the bandits and to beef up security in the area.”

While thanking Imo people for their continuous support, the CP urged that they continue to work in synergy with the Police and other security agencies to check crime in the State.
