
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command have begin an investigation into the alleged rape of a lady by security aide to Bisi Fayemi, wife of the Governor of Ekiti State.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 by Olawale Fapounda, Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Fapounda noted that, the alleged rape was said to have occured on 5th of July, 2021 in Abuja; and was reported to the Criminal Investigation Department, FCT Command.
According to Fapounda, the Ekiti State Government will cooperate fully with the Nigerian Police to ensure the matter is investigated thoroughly; as the Dr. Kayode Fayemi led administration has zero tolerance for all forms of sexual violence.
He also noted that, the Ekiti State's Ministry of Justice, is currently presecuting about 121 cases of rape in various courts across the state.
The rape victim is said to be receiving intensive psycho-social and legal aid to cope with the trauma, seek justice, and have her identity protected.
