"We have a Clinic But There Are No Drugs" -Woman Reveals Condition of Abuja IDP Camp

A 28-year-old mother of 4 children, Zara Mohammed, has narrated her ordeal in an Internally Displaced Person's Camp (IDP camp) located in the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja). TVC News gathered that Zara has resided in the IDP camp for over 8 years after she fled Borno State.

Over time, many Nigerians have fled their communities and taken refuge in IDP camps as a result of insecurity facing various parts of the country. You may recall that were reports of criminal groups constantly attacking local communities and taking over such communities in some cases. Concerns have however been raised regarding the condition of IDP camps and their residents.

Revealing the condition of an IDP camp where she resides, Zara said, "We do not have a good education in this IDP camp. We have a clinic but there are no drugs in it. We depend on our women leader to take care of the pregnant women and oversee childbirth, but there are not materials in the camp to assist with child delivery."
