Counting down to 20th October, reports have it that Nigerian youths are planning a memorial protest in honour of those that lost their lives at the Lekki toll gate shooting in 2020. Nigerian youths were protesting police brutality and had occupied the Lekki toll gate, before the incident.
So, on 20th October, 2021, it will be the one year anniversary of the incidence and Nigerian youths are planning a memorial rally cum protest. The government of president Muhammadu Buhari has always maintained it will not tolerate disruption of peace and quiet.

While it is the constitutional rights of citizens to have a peaceful rally or gathering, it usually metamorphoses to a rowdy affair and becomes disruptive.
Why then should the youths thread with caution?
1. In situations like this, people often get emotional and go overboard with their actions. Such actions usually constitute a nuisance or culminate in disruption of peace and tranquility.
2 Another reason is the seeming bad blood between the Nigerian youths and the Nigerian police. The police who are tasked with keeping the peace in the society, were the subject of the protest. So, during the memorial rally, the police are more than likely to be present to ensure things do not escalate.
3. Also, during rallys, criminal elements and never-do-wells often hijack honest and harmless movement to carry out nefarious acts. They often loot people's sources of livelihood and even get violent. Once violence sets in, then the government and the police have constitutional rights to restore calm.
4. The final reason the youths need to thread with caution this time, is that no more deaths should be recorded in this matter. One more death to the previous ones is too much, thus for safety's sake, moderation is advised. The youths are advised to weed out nefarious individuals amongst them during the rally to avoid unnecessary escalation and opening of old wounds.
Those who lost their lives in a rally for good governance deserve a peaceful memorial, and legally, they should get one.
