EFCC Returns Huge Money To Japanese Victim Of "Yahoo Boys"

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has on Thursday returned a huge amount of money which was recovered from an internet fraudster to a Japanese victim.

Let us not forget that internet scam is now rampant among Nigerian youths. It is very difficult to find a single person among one thousand numbers of youths who is not into scam.

According to the agency, over sums of ¥370,000 Japanese Yen and $1,800 USD was recovered from a Yahoo Boy in Nigeria following a complaint by a man named Hatsumi Ozeki.

In an investigation which was conducted by officials of EFCC, Ozeki was scammed by a man called Evans Ewean-Obayagbona but the process of this fraud was done through the account of two other men named Samson Okonofua, Osifo Onaiwi-Kelly and Igbenedion Iyobor Mikel.

the Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, who spoke while returning the money to officials of the Japanese Embassy at Efcc headquarters in Abuja, emphasized on the commitment of the commission to wage war against cyber crimes and all other forms of financial crimes.

Abdulkarim further revealed that the agency is charged with the responsibility of sanitizing the country from any kinds of financial crimes so as to ensure conducive environments for foreign investors.

Moreover, the representative of the Japanese Embassy appreciated the agency for their commitment to fighting corruption and as well their successful acts in recovering items from looters and scammers.
