Members of a Fulani family in Ikoroku village in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have clashed over who inherits wife of the deceased head of the family, Alhaji Bello.

A national daily, The Punch, reports that the clash which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, led to one Babbi Aliyu sustaining serious injuries. He was attacked with a cutlass.
The Punch quotes an unnamed source close to the family as saying trouble started when the junior brother of late Bello decided to inherit his wife, a decision which did not sit well with the children of the deceased.
They interpreted their uncle's decision to mean that he had a hand in the death of their father and vowed to take back the wife, leading to a free-for-all.
Confirming the clash, Kwara State Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) spokesman, Babawale Afolabi, said the Command's operatives prevented the clash from escalating.
He added that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
