Armed bandits on Wednesday attacked the convoy of Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The convoy was comprised of the Governor's associates that escorted him to Zamfara State where he joined other governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and leadership of the party to officially receive the Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Mattawale who recently defected from the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Confirming the incident, Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said some security aides in the convoy sustained minor injuries in the attack. He disclosed that the Governor himself was not in the convoy.
A National daily, The Guardian, quotes an unnamed security source as also confirming the incident and disclosing that three security personnel attached to the governor’s convoy sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack.
As at penning this, the Kano State Police Command was yet to release a statement on the incident.
