The activities of the Bandits in north has be underwhelming as the Government has hitherto not provided a lasting solution to the reoccurring problem. Many people have aired their views on the matter but the recent Senate President's comment on the matter is a careless one in my opinion.
The first kidnapping of student saw many reports saying that the government allegedly paid lot of money in excess of N800m to the bandits as ransom but they came out and debunked that reports stating that they never did. After the first kidnapping, the president promised that there will be no more kidnapping but few days after, another one happened.
Current Senate President, Sen. Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has he say on the matter. This is what he said;
"It is unfortunate all kidnappings of students are happening in the North".
This statement is careless in my opinion because people might misinterpret it in another way. Some may feel that he meant it should have happened in other places and not just the north. To back my opinion, here is how people reacted to the comment on Twitter.
