 "I bought AK-47 From A Soldier" - Kidnapper

Edo State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Sampson Ebiowei with an operational Ak-47 rifle.

The 34-year-old noted that he got the rifle from a soldier of the Nigerian Army serving in the Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East for N300,000.

Ebiowei while speaking at the command headquarters disclosed that he got the rifle and started the kidnapping business after his name was removed from the list of beneficiaries of the Nigerian government’s Niger-Delta Amnesty Programme for repentant militants.

Court Halts Orji Kalu's Retrial

Inyang Ekwo, a judge of the federal high court in Abuja, has ordered a stay of proceedings in the N7.1 billion fraud case against Orji Uzor Kalu, former Abia state governor.

The EFCC had preferred a 36-count charge against Kalu and Ude Jones Udeogu, a former director of finance and accounts in Abia in 2007.

The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Martins, has asked the Federal Government to punish Fulani herdsmen who are perpetrating evil in the country.

Martins, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Mission House, Catholic Church of Resurrection, Magodo, Lagos, on Saturday said the feeling among many Nigerians was that the killer herdsmen were being protected by the Federal Government.

Marketers Speak On New Petrol Price

Nigeria may again experience another fuel price hike as oil marketers association of Nigeria suggest new pump price.

A statement released to newsmen by top officials of two major marketers’ associations a few moments ago suggested that pump price of petrol should be between N185 and N200 per litre to reflect the further rise in crude oil prices.
