How fire burnt down six cars and shops in Umuahia

At about 9.00pm Thursday night, there was an out break of fire at Ubakala junction, Umuahia south L.G.A of Abia State. Residents and shop owners around the junction were in distress as they continue to panic over the situation.

It was gathered that the fire originated from a road side petrol dealer who stored large quantities of the product in his shop, the sources said that he entered the room with a burning candle light and the fire escalated to other parts of the building and burnt down six(6) packed cars in a mechanic near his shop.

The fire was extinguished by a quick response of the men of Abia State fire service and the men of federal fire service. The Abia State fire service public relations officer Mr Chukwuemeka Okezie advised people to stop patronizing road-side petrol dealers and apply safety measures in the work place, Church, homes etc.
