One dead in Gombe gov’s convoy accident
Several journalists in the convoy of the Gombe State Governor , Inuwa Yahaya, were , on Thursday, involved in a fatal crash while on their way to Gombe from Bauchi. The driver of the crashed vehicle reportedly died .
The Gombe State Governor was in Bauchi on Wednesday for the 4 th North -East Governors ’ Forum Meeting which held in Bauchi State .
The Governor then stayed till Thursday to be a part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the foundation laying for the renovation and upgrading of the Bauchi State Government House which was laid by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Borno State , Professor Babagana Zulum .
We didn’t run away from Boko Haram, Army explains action
Following report that about 100 soldiers absconded after Boko Haram attacked Marte and Dikwa, respectively, the Nigerian Army, Thursday faulted the report, describing the story as false, unfounded and an attempt to malign the image and character of the Nigerian Army.
Disclosing this in a statement signed by Mohammed Yerima, Brigadier General, Director Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army said.
“The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a publication in a section of the media alleging that over a 100 Nigerian troops were reported to have absconded after Boko Haram attacks on Marte and Dikwa. This publication is false, unfounded and an attempt to malign the image and character of the Nigerian Army.
“For the records, in the fog of war, it is a routine that head count is conducted to determine the number of men and equipment holding aftermath of military offensive. Unfortunately, an internal correspondence that was originated by the formation was not properly done. It was later discovered that a good number of those affected rejoined their respective units and are currently part of the ongoing clearance operations.
Pregnant Woman Shot, Husband Abducted As Gunmen Raid Houses In FCT
A pregnant woman was shot while three persons, including her husband, were abducted when gunmen raided Kwaita community in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A resident, who preferred anonymity, told Daily Trust that the incident happened around 11pm on Wednesday.He said the kidnappers invaded the houses of their victims and whisked them away after shooting sporadically.
He said the pregnant woman was hit by a stray bullet.
“The entire community was thrown into panic because of the sporadic gunshot.
“They wanted to take the woman along, but when they discovered that she sustained bullets wound and she is pregnant, they pared her,” he said.
He said the pregnant woman has been taken to an undisclosed hospital in Gwagwalada for treatment.
Kaduna confirms killing of notorious bandits’ leader
The Kaduna State Government has confirmed that bandits’ leader ‘Rufai Maikaji’ was neutralized alongside dozens of his fighters.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State. Mr. Samuel Aruwan.
Aruwan disclosed that ‘Rufai Maikaji’, a deadly bandit, who commanded over a hundred fighters was neutralized during air raids in Igabi LGA.
“After painstaking checks with security agencies, and careful exploitation of numerous human intelligence sources, the Kaduna State Government can authoritatively confirm that one ‘Rufai Maikaji’ a deadly bandit who commanded over a hundred fighters has been neutralized.”
‘Rufai Maikaji’, and dozens of his fighters were neutralized during air interdictions around the fringes of Malul Forest in Igabi LGA of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.
