9 Pablo Escobar Facts You Didn't Know

Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria was a Colombian drug lord and narcoterrorist who was the founder and sole leader of the Medellín Cartel.

He was born December 1 1949 in Rionegro Colombia and died in December 2nd 1993. Now here some things you don't know about him.

1. Kidnapping and petty crimes made Escobar a millionaire at 22, he was a petty thief selling fake lottery tickets and stabbing people on the street and it escalated into more serious crimes in his late teens by smuggling marijuana and stealing cars.

2. Pablo Escobar killed his way to the top, in 1975 at just 26 years old Escobar wished to make a deal with the Medellin syndicate head Fabio Restrepo which involved 14kilo of cocaine. Escobar killed Restrepo and informed his workers that they now worked for him,thus beginning his ascension.

3. If he couldn't bribe you he kills you,he came up with the line silver or lead,that is take the money or get killed.

4. His pilot could earn up to$500,00 dollars per flight by smuggling cocaine into the USA.

5. He was insanely rich,he was once recognized as the 7th richest man by Forbes, his brother once stated that in the cartel Hay day, they were spending a $1000 a week on rubber band to just to tie their stash of cash together. Escobar was supplying 80% of the United States cocaine and by the 90's he was officially worth $30 billion dollars.

6. He became involved in politics to fight extradition, in 1982 he was elected and alternate member in the chamber of representative while in drug business. As a member of the Colombia Libral party he aimed to gain enough influence to fight extradition.

7. He loved the poor and the poor loved him, he was often considered the modern day Robin Hood because he gave most of his riches to the poor which gained him praise.

8. He caused Colombia to become the murder capital of the world, there was no limit to Escobar rage. The country suffered over 2700 violent death in 1992 alone, which is equal to roughly 74 murders a day.

9. The end game, the final result for Pablo Escobar was death. In 1992 a vigilant group calling their selves Los Pepe's emerged fighting fire with fire, burning Escobar's compound and killing his family member. The USA intelligence agency worked with Colombia forces were able to locate Escobar in Medellin and there was a shoot out on the root top were he shot and he died
