It can be recalled that a nationwide protest was launched last year against the alleged inhuman conducts of the some staff members of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Command.
The originally peaceful protest was,however,reportedly hijacked by hoodlums leading to bloodshed,lost of lives,damages to public and private investment.
News reports have comfirmed that the Lagos State Judicial Panel entertaining cases of police brutality has approved compensation to a number of the victims of police inhumanity since the panel has considered their cases and found them to merit being compensated.
Some of the appellants who got compensation of ten million naira are Adebayo Abayomi for the illegal murdering of his mother and one Hannah Olugbodi for being fired at by a police officer among others.
Meanwhile, Justice Doris Okuwobi (retrd) in her judgment disclosed that the uncultured police officers who have carried out the offences are to be duly dealt with according to law.
