Gunmen abduct ondo varsity lecturer, demand N10m ransom

A lecturer at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Akoko, AAUA, Ondo state, Mayowa David Adinlewa has been reportedly abducted by gunmen.

Meanwhile, the victim’s brother, Toyin confirmed last night that the kidnappers have open line of communication with the family and demanded for N10 million ransom.

Adinlewa was said to have been abducted weekend along bad Akure-Ikere Ekiti road.

2 Killed In Fresh Kaduna Attack

At least two residents were killed by unknown gunmen at Ungwan Taila village in Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna State.

In a statement issued by Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the troops of Operation Safe Haven reported the incident to the Kaduna State Government.

Aruwan explained that the troops on arriving the scene of the incident, found out that the assailants had killed two residents: “Helen Lucky, Hananiah Elijah”.

The statement said receiving the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed deep regret at further loss of life from such attacks in the area.

Army launches nationwide exercises ahead of Yuletide

The Nigerian Army will commence a nationwide “Field Training Exercises” to prepare its officers for the impending Yuletide season and end-of-year activities.

Spokesman of the army, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, said the exercises are tagged “Golden Dawn,” “Enduring Peace,” and “Still Water.”

The move by the army, Mr Nwachukwu stated on Sunday, is to effectively check all forms of criminality and allow for free movement of persons as the Yuletide and end-of-year activities approach.

He said that the army chief Lieutenant-General Farouk Yahaya would symbolically launch all the exercises on Monday, October 4 at Ovie-Emene, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, venue of Exercise Golden Dawn.

69 bandits, collaborators arrested in Zamfara

The Police Command in Zamfara State, on Sunday, announced that it had successfully arrested 21 suspected notorious bandits and 48 collaborators during various raids it carried out in September.

SP Muhammed Shehu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, made the disclosure at a press briefing in Gusau, on the achievements of the security agencies in the state.

According to the PPRO, five bandits on the wanted list of the security agencies were also neutralized during the raids.

“Since the implementation of the new security measures of Gov Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, a month ago, the Police and other security agencies had carried out assaults on identified bandits’ locations to rid the state of recalcitrant bandits and other criminal elements.
