Security Operatives Nab 2 Suspected Kidnappers While Trying To Pick Up Ransom in Ogun

Security operatives attached to the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers while attempting to collect ransom.

The suspects, Mohammed Abubakar (42) and Clinton Niche (18) were nabbed at the Agbara area of the state while trying to pick up ransom money meant to secure the release of a victim.

The arrest was confirmed in the statement issued by the Spokesman for the Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Monday, October 4. Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested after a complaint was lodged at the Agbara area Command by one Stephen Ajibili.

According to him, Ajibili complained that his 7-year-old son, Daniel Ajibili had been kidnapped. Daniel was abducted while running an errand for his mother.

It was gathered that the kidnappers had called the victim's father and demanded for a sum of N1 million to secure his son's release.

Upon receiving the complaint from Ajibili, the Acting Area Commander Agbara, CSP Kayode Shedrack mobilized a team of detectives to track down the culprits.

It was also gathered that the suspects, who had directed the parents of the victim to drop the ransom money somewhere were ambushed and arrested by the security operatives. The suspects were said to have led the team of detectives to their den in the bush, where Daniel Ajibili was tied to a tree.

It was gathered that the third member of the gang, who was assigned to watch over the victim had absconded immediately he discovered that his accomplices had been arrested.

Meanwhile, the acting commissioner of Police, DCP Abiodun Alamatu had declared the fleeing member of the gang wanted.
