Four persons arrested for murder of farmer in Bauchi: Police

Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old woman farmer, Rifkatu Yohanna, in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi state.

The spokesman of the Bauchi police command, Ahmed Wakili, said on Wednesday that the deceased was killed by assailants on a farm on Monday, September 20 in Tafawa Balewa.

“On Monday, at about 8:45 p.m. on September 20, a distress call was put through to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Tafawa Balewa concerning one Rifkatu Yohanna, 35, of Tafawa Balewa town.

“She went to the farm on the same date at about 8:00 a.m. and did not return home.

FG records N2.3 trn deficit in Q1

The federal government recorded a budget deficit to the tune of N2. 293 trillion in the first quarter of this year.

This is contained in the First Quarter (Q1) Budget Implementation Report (BIR) by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.

According to the report, “The revenue and expenditure outturn of the Federal Government resulted in a fiscal deficit of ₦2.293 trillion during the quarter (6.43 percent of the 2021 quarterly GDP).

Led by its chairman, Senator Ibrahim Gobir, the committee expressed shock and sadness at the level of destruction of both public and private properties in the state.

The committee visited several places, including the Tinapa Lake Resort, the Calabar International Convention Centre located at Summit Hills, the Calabar Garment Factory, Ayade Industrial Park, Federal Psychiatric Hospital and the World Health Organization)WHO) office, amongst other.

Makinde sends names of 10 Commissioner-nominees to Oyo Assembly

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has forwarded names of ten more people who are to serve as his Commissioners to Oyo State House of Assembly.

He sent the names on Wednesday.

Among the nominees were five of the former Commissioners whose appointments were terminated during the last cabinet reshuffle.

Their names were contained in a letter forwarded to the Oyo State House of Assembly by the Governor for consideration and approval.

The five returning former Commissioners are Mr Seun Fakorede, Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Mr Wasiu Olatunbosun and Mr Abdulrahman Abdulrahim.
