The news of Nigerians being sentenced to death in foreign countries is no longer new as we have heard of such events in the past, but in recent times a young Nigerian man has been sentenced to death in a foreign country known as Vietnam.
According to reports, the young man who was identified as Unachukwu Chiluba Paulinus was sentenced in a court which is located in the southwestern province of Tay Ninh. The 25-year-old Nigerian was found guilty of being in possession of three kilogrammes of methamphetamine from Cambodia to Vietnam.
Things started to take a disastrous turn after Unachukwu was intercepted with the said substance in the Ta Pheng area of Thuan Tay hamlet in Loi Thuan commune, Ben Cau district sometime in 2020.
This is not the first time a Nigerian is being sentenced to death for drug trafficking in a foreign country, but Vietnam is well known for it's strict laws which is meant to deal with drug traffickers. One of such laws includes, that those convicted of possessing more than 600g of heroin or 2.5kg methamphetamine will face the death penalty.
