According to a news that was posted by Linda Ikeji's Blog this morning, it was alleged that a University of Port Harcourt lecturer, whose name was given as Doctor Joe Ayuwo, working in the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies was kidnapped on the 21st of February, 2021 while he was coming back from the function he attended at Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The lecturer was abducted the same day King Aaron Ikuru, who happens to be a traditional ruler and the chairman of Andoni Council of Traditional Rulers was abducted by kidnappers, as they were both held in captivity, while the kidnappers were waiting for ransom to be paid before they will free them.
However, luckily for the UNIPORT lecturer, it was made known that police operatives through technical intelligence and in joint effort with some local vigilantes started trailing the criminals after their location was revealed, in bid to arrest them and free their victims, as it was alleged that during the rescue operation, the kidnappers upon sighting security operatives from afar, left the university lecturer alone in order to distract the operatives and took the traditional ruler away with them.
