What does it mean to be a “national treasure”? How can the Nigerian government affect the lives of those who were part of our history, as a picture, and the alleged state of Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi, the man who designed the Nigerian flag surfaced online.
Akinkunmi, designed the Nigerian flag in 1959, and 65 years down the line, it appears as if he has been forgotten and not living the best of life many would have thought or hoped for.
The picture of Akinkunmi, was posted on social media (Instagram) by Nigerian musician, blogger and producer Tunde Ednut, as he expressed his dissatisfaction over the exterior and other part of the house he posted.
"Nigeria, this is the man that designed our Nigerian flag (Green White Green). Look at the state of his living. Look at his house. Is this man not supposed to enjoy forever? This is Mr. Taiwo Akinwunmi. It is well.” Tunde wrote on his official Instagram page.
Reacting to the viral post, Nigerians took to his comment section to make their opinion known, as they called on the government to do what is right for a man they described as a “National Treasure”.
