Lawmaker escapes as gunmen attack convoy

Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins, on Monday, opened fire on the convoy Of Rasheed Olalekan Afolabi, the member representing Ifelodun/ Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The incident occurred along the Akure-Okenne road in Kogi State, according to a statement attributed to his media office.

According to the statement, the lawmaker and his wife, Mrs. Abimbola Afolabi, had just left their home town of Ikirun on Monday morning after attending the APC State Congress on Saturday, and were dropped off by his drivers at Akure Airport to catch a connecting flight to Abuja, while his drivers continued the journey by road to Abuja.

Ayodele Drops New Prophecy On Ubah

Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele, Founder of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church Worldwide, has predicted that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has the best chance of winning the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election.

Speaking on Ubah’s chances in his latest predictions on the hotly contested election, Primate Ayodele said that “victory is surrounding him.”

He warned the billionaire oil magnate to avoid being "technically rigged out," and urged Ubah to avoid any missteps in order to "take victory."

He said that Ubah, whose rags-to-riches story is regarded as the best reflection of the ‘Nigerian Dream, has what it takes to emerge victorious, adding that, “victory is close to him.

FG confirms arrival of final batch of Super Tucano jets

The Federal Government has taken delivery of all the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets expected from the United States.

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, confirmed this in an interview with TV Continental yesterday, describing the fighter jets a "game changer" and revealing that they have been used for operations in the north-east.

Noting that the jets contributed to the recent successes recorded by the military, Mohammed said: “All the 12 Super Tucano fighter jets have been received. As at this morning, all the 12 were here and they have been deployed to the north-east.

“We can see that the Tucano jets are actually a game changer. Most of the successes we have recorded in recent time is because of the acquisition of the new platforms, not limited to the super Tucano.”

Makinde assures security agencies of more support

Mr Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, pledged his administration's continued support to security agencies in their fight against insecurity in the state and throughout Nigeria on Monday.

Makinde made the pledge while meeting with AVM Charles Ohwo, the Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, Ikeja, Lagos, in his office at the State Secretariat, Ibadan, on Monday.

According to the governor, the country has been going through a difficult period, and the current set of leaders has been quite challenged.

He stated that the names of members of the Armed Forces would be written in gold for their efforts in stemming the tide of insecurity at this point in the country's history.
