A report from Daily Trust revealed that bandits have set up camps in the Federal Capital Territory. Locals confirmed that the new camps were located around Zukpatu, Gadoro, Achimbi, Pesu, Duda, Pani, Gaube and New Gwombe communities in Kuje area council. The report further revealed that the aforementioned communities share boundaries with Nassarawa state. Recall that the country has been battling to curtail the activities of banditry which is a menace in the northwestern region.
The recent report detected in the FCT shows that these evil men are currently moving southwards, which should be a cause for concern to Southern states. It should be noted that the military has been bombarding bandit camps in Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto and Niger States, which perhaps is responsible for their migration to a safer location.
As the fight against these criminals continues to garner momentum in the northwest, they might be forced to set up camps in some southern states bordering the north to escape the military offensive. Like we all know, the FCT links the north with the south, as such, if bandits can migrate there a setup camps without been detected by the security, that means they can easily do the same in the south.
However, the military and other security operatives can curtail the activities of these bandits by mounting tight security and intelligence in southern communities bordering the north. Residence, on the other hand, should report any suspect to the authorities.
