My Kindred Borrowed me Money to Save my Job But I Killed him Over Repayment- Ifeanyi

Ifeanyi Ezinwa who worked as a revenue collector in Umuleri area of Anambra State has been arrested by officers of the Nigerian police force over the murder of his relative identified as Chukwuebuka Iloegbunam. Ifeanyi however confessed to killing Chukwuebuka over a loan which he owed the deceased.

According to Ifeanyi, he would have landed in trouble if it was discovered that he spent part of the levies he collected for elders in the community. He therefore reached out to Chukwuebuka who operated a provision store for a loan of N100,000 to cover his tracks.

Ifeanyi described Chukwuebuka as his kindred in Umuleri.

Trouble however began after Ifeanyi who collected the loan in December 2020 couldn't meet up with the agreed repayment date, 10th of January, 2021.

Ifeanyi disclosed that he decided to kill his creditor after Chukwuebuka's consistent disturbance and threats to report the issue to the Igwe (king). On how he killed the deceased, Ifeanyi claims he asked Chukwuebuka to meet him at Aguleri junction at 8pm to collect the payment which he did. On arriving at the agreed location, Ifeanyi said they took a walk on a lonely bush path under the guise that they were heading for where to get the money.

On their way however, Ifeanyi made an excuse to urinate while reaching out for the knife he kept inside a loaf of bread.

According to the suspect, Chukwuebuka noticed the development, took the knife and stabbed him. Ifeanyi however prevailed by grabbing Chukwuebuka's neck and strangled him. After achieving his aim, Ifeanyi said he ran to the King's palace but in the absence of the king, he informed the security guards that he was attacked by armed robbers.Ifeanyi said he was arrested th next day after the chairman of security in the community came with the police and arrested him after Chukwuebuka's corpse was discovered. The suspect said he insisted they were attacked until he eventually confessed to the police.
