NSCDC Arrest 3 Suspected Smugglers In Akwa Ibom

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Akwa Ibom State Command, have arrested three suspected smugglers and intercepted a truck conveying sand with over 3,000 litres of suspected adulterated diesel concealed inside it.

The suspects who were coming from Ahoada, Rivers State, were nabbed on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at the border between Akwa Ibom and Rivers State.

The state commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Samuel Fadeyi who disclosed these at a media briefing in his office, Uyo, the state capital on Friday commended his men for their gallantry and commitment.

Five Killed As Troops And Bandits Engage In Gun Battle

Four bandits and a soldier have been killed after troops of the Nigerian Army encountered bandits in the Marina community in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The army said on Saturday that the troops attached to Operation Hadarin Daji on Thursday had a gun battle with the criminals, during which four bandits were killed.

In a release, the military noted that the troops captured two AK-47 rifles and one motorcycle belonging to the bandits.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen Mohammed Yerima, said that the army would continue to dominate the areas for more surveillance.

Boko Haram Kill Two Civilians In Borno

Suspected armed Boko Haram sect on Saturday evening invaded Rumirgo community of Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State and killed security personnel, two other civilians.

The insurgents according to Sources stormed the settlement at about 7pm to 10pm on Saturday, also carted away with a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) a.k.a petrol.

Rumirgo is one of the communities in Southern Borno Senatorial District that had witnessed series of deadly attacks by insurgents in recent past.

Fulani Herdsmen Kill Two Farmers

Palpable tension has gripped residents of Isaba-Ekiti in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State following the killing of two farmers by suspected herdsmen.

The Nation gathered that the gruesome incident occurred on Friday evening at a farmstead, where the farmers were said to have had an altercation with the herders and escalated to bloodshed.

The police spokesman in the State, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, said the clash was preceded by a disagreement between both parties.
