One of the abducted Zamfara Schoolgirls, who regained freedom today, Tuesday, 2 March 2021, narrates to a Daily Trust reporter how she met her father and her elder sister under captivity by the same kidnappers that kidnapped them.
The father of the girl and the sister, both from Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State, were said to have been kidnapped three months ago when armed bandits ransacked their village. The family could not secure their release due to the amount of money demanded by the kidnappers.
Habiba said that her father warned her not to reveal his identity to the armed bandits to avoid being killed by the armed bandits.
She added that, "I met my father and my elder sister at the kidnappers' den. My father asked how the family are at home". I met him in a very bad condition, he has multiple injuries from consistent beatings. They even cut him with machete. I always cry when I I saw the bandits beating him. The bandits said they would kill him and my sister if the money is not paid".
