At least four persons have been confirmed dead and three others severely injured following an explosion from a local welder’s shop at Isa local government area of Sokoto State on Sunday afternoon.

A resident in the community, who hinted our correspondent about the incident, said: “when I heard the loud explosion, what came to my mind was that bandits were on rampage.

“It was when I saw people running towards the welder’s shop where the explosion occured that my mind was at rest that it wasn’t bandits that struck.


Gunmen Attack Two Communities In Kwara

Gunmen have attacked Gure and Boriya communities in the Baruten local government area of Kwara state.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the incident happened on Saturday night.

The gunmen allegedly invaded the two communities and shot sporadically, thereby throwing the people into a panic.

However, it was gathered that no casualty was recorded in the incident.

Sources also said that military personnel has been drafted to the troubled spots.

Gunmen have invaded two communities in Baruten local government area of Kwara State, killing one person in the process.

Sources said that the gunmen also carted away huge cash and phones during the attacks.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the first attack by the gunmen took place in Gure community while the second one happened last Saturday at Boriya community.


FG To Adopt ASUU Pay Rise Template For Striking Doctors

The pay rise template designed for the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU will be adopted for medical doctors working under the employment of the Federal Government.

According to The PUNCH, it confirmed that the decision to adopt the ASUU pay profile follows several demands by the doctors for better pay rise, among others.

Presently, doctors under the aegis of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, an affiliate of the Nigerian Medical Association are currently on a warning strike.


12, Out Of 14 Oyo Members-Elect Back Abbas, Kalu

Twelve (12) Oyo state House of Representatives members-elect have endorsed Honourables Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

In some documents obtained from a session held by the lawmakers, 12 members-elect out of the 14 seats in the State appended their signatures supporting the duo’s positions as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.

Among those who endorsed the duo are Reps members from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
