The heartbreaking of these measures taken by kaduna state government to fight insecurities in the state is the total ban of motorcycles popularly known as "Okada" by average Nigerians.while we all know that the major means through which most average Nigerians get to meet their needs is from this informal sector.
Hundred of thousands of Nigerians are into this, because of the high rate of unemployment in the country, some graduates end up resorting to riding of motorcycles to meet up their daily needs and this is also what they do to feed their families.
Although,we cannot hide the fact that these ungodly criminals use these motorcycles to commit their atrocities. It indeed hasten up their activities. But should we let this leads us to taking away of other means of survival? , Should we because of these criminals while trying to stop them create unrest in the society?. What assurance do we have that these Okada riders won't scavenge on us a means of survival?, Have we forgotten that " An idle hand is where the devil finds solace". If these thousands of both young and old men are wiped away from the street where they find their daily needs, the questions that arise are ; where should they go, what would they and their families eat?.
So, rather than going on with this ban of motorcycles, I suggest these measures below should be put in place;
*The motorcycles rider in the state registered in their various local government of operations with plate numbers.
*The government should provide a one colour jacket numbered and named with registration number, local government number and rider serial while they pay at a subsidised price.
*Restrictions of movement in some locations and periods as it is for tricycles operators.
If these are done with other measures already put in place, I believe it will go on well in tackling these problems.
