"This Country Saddens Me Daily" - Says Nigerian Youth Who Was Allegedly Harassed by Police Officers

A Nigerian youth cries out for being maltreated by law enforcement officers.

The young man with the social handle @Southpaw_king01 took to Twitter to narrate what occurred. According to him, he was travelling to Lagos on the road from Ibadan, his car was intentionally hit by a strange vehicle and as he came down from his car, he was arraigned by 6 men with arms and brutally harassed by them.... they claimed to be Interpol.

Southpaw revealed that they said they will take him to Lokoja, Kogi State Capital, but he insisted on not following until he contacts someone and they first took his phone from him. The officers said they will take him to EFCC which he agreed knowing he was arrested and cleared by them in May.

So the officers changed their minds and took him in forcefully as they slapped and ripped his shirt as he was struggling to enter the van. After another slap was landed on him and he went blanked since they couldn't find anything to implicate him because he was clean.

On their way to EFCC, they told him to cooperate and do as they said which he refused and drove down to a bush site at Ogere where he was freed.

It is worrisome that officers in uniform who are meant to protect the people are harassing innocent lives daily in Nigeria. Sadly, the young man was pained that people watched him beaten and handcuffed without doing anything all because he drives a Lexus Vehicle.

Why can't people look out for others in bad situations? Let's all be on the lookout for brothers and sisters who are always being harassed.
