The driver of a trailer carrying a 40-foot container lost control, causing the vehicle to roll back while ascending a bridge on a Lagos highway and crashed into a Toyota Corolla car in the process, causing some damage to the car.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Cele-Ijesha link bridge in the Okota area of Lagos State when the driver of the trailer carrying the 40-foot container, while ascending the bridge, suddenly failed to continue as the vehicle rolled back on the bridge and hit the Toyota Corolla with registration number KJA 236 GG behind it.
As a result of this, the trailer hit the Toyota Corolla in the passenger's side, pushing the car towards the barrier of the bridge, just as the incident caused traffic gridlock on the busy link bridge.
It was gathered that though there was no casualty during the incident, many motorists and commuters had some hectic time on the stretch of the bridge before traffic management officials got to the scene.
As of the time of this report, it was gathered that efforts have been made by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the agency in charge of traffic monitoring in the state, to move the vehicle off the road and ensure a better traffic situation.
The incident was announced by LASTMA on its Facebook wall and Twitter handle @followlastma which added that policemen were also invited to the scene to maintain law and order and ensure better traffic flow.
