A video from LindaIkeji's blog shows a Nigerian father dealing mercilessly with his daughter.
When you become a parent, you know to expect the unexpected. But for many Christian parents, nothing can prepare them to hear that their beloved child is gay. This is the child you have cradled, spoon fed mashed bananas, and dreamed a beautiful future for. How could this be? What will the church say? What will your friends say? What does the future hold? You can’t even get your head around this.
Don’t condemn yourself for the emotions you feel. But, since you love your child, you owe it to him or her — and to yourself — to move toward acceptance, understanding and support.
While it may feel as if you have lost your child, you haven’t. Your child is the same person he or she was yesterday. The only thing you have lost is your own image of that child and the understanding you thought you had. That loss can be very difficult, but that image can, happily, be replaced with a new and clearer understanding of your child.
The truth if it all is that beating the child alone will not bring solution to your problem. The child can't remain at the age of beating forever. It is a gradual mental process that you have to seek for the right solutions and you should be able to properly guide your child.
