1. Troops kill bandits leader ‘Rufai Maikaji’, neutralize dozen others in Kaduna: Troops in Kaduna State have killed Rufai Maikaji, a deadly bandit who commanded over a hundred fighters that terrorized communities in the state.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner of Home Affairs and Internal Security said on Thursday, that the development was after painstaking checks with security agencies and careful exploitation of numerous human intelligence sources.
2. Dangote's blood money: On January 23, a truck belonging to Dangote Group rammed into a shopping complex in Akungba Akoko, around Adekunle Ajasin University. Media reports state that the truck’s brakes failed as it descended a hilly approach and used the complex as a stopgap. In one fell swoop, eight persons were dead.
The scale of the disaster roiled further when information filtered out that three members of a family were amongst the dead. Then, the Student Union Government of the university announced on Saturday that the Dangote Group had compensated the victims’ families with N500,000 each.
3. Two kidnap suspects die after exchange of gunfire with Police – CP Ali:
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali has disclosed that kidnap suspects who sustained fatal injuries during an exchange of gunfire with a team of Rapid Response Squad, RRS Operatives in Asaba have died.
CP Ali disclosed this in a statement signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Odafe Bright.
The State Police boss noted that one AK47 rifle with BREECH No. 19567 and two Magazines with 18 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
