The student identified as Sharif Sale-Kanya was a final year student had bought a smart phone from a store owner in the main town and paid via mobile transfer. He was said to have switched off his phone during examination, hence unreachable.
On switching on the phone, he was said to have noticed that the money transferred was reversed back so he proceeded to the market to pay for the phone in cash.
A, source, who confirmed the incident to Sahara reporters said On sighting him, angry youths descended on him, shouting and beat him to coma.
He was rushed to the general hospital but was confirmed dead shortly after being admitted.
The incident has led to the authorities of the institution to announce an immediate suspension of all activities in the school.
The Registrar of the school instructed all, students to vacate the university premises immediately.
"This is to inform all students of the university that the management has directed the closure of the school indefinitely. Therefore, all students are hereby directed to leave the university with immediate effect,” the statement said
This was, said to have been necessary after the students of the university went on rampage in the Aliero town after news of the death of the student reached the university community.
