The said incident, which happened on Saturday at No.1 Agbontaen street, beside Ebvareke Secondary School in Uselu, has been brought to the notice of the Edo Police Command. The eldest child, Augustine recounted the mishap that Christopher called his deceased wife phone and demanded N2,000.
He added that his father got home around 9 pm and began the assault on his wife, accusing her of embarrassing him each he requested for money. Following the assault, Augustine said he tried to give his mother paracetamol and water, but his father discarded them away.
He reported that his mother went outside to pour water on her body and lay down outside, but their father continued the assault again outside after locking the children inside the room.
This was when the neighbor came and rushed her to two different hospitals. Sadly, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
He disclosed that his father was a smoker and a drunk. The spokesman to the state's police said investigations have begun, although the story has been affirmed by a neighbor.
