Enugu State Police Commissioner Mohammed Aliyu and other security personnel arrived in Adani to investigate the cause of the riot that left six people dead on Sunday.
He said unidentified assailants killed six people, injured two others and set fire to several properties.
Aliyu called for peace and ordered a thorough investigation to arrest those involved.
He promised the community that the police and other security forces would work together to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
He asked them to flee from any trouble and love each other as brothers and sisters.
Uzo-Uwani State Assemblyman Chukwudi Celestine Nnadozie thanked the police for their efforts in bringing peace to the area.
DSS security chief Brown, Ekwoaba, Civil Defense Valentine Africa and paramedics Abdul Abdullahi took part in the trip.
